PORTRAITS 1987

     This group of etchings seems both old fashioned and modern to me. I wanted to look closely and intensely at people close to me, as round solid forms struck by light, emerging from darkness, much as I make sculpture.
     Left to myself, I tend to scribblein a quite undisciplined fasion. It intrigued me to watch my scribbles of automatic writing begin to describe atmosphere and form, both emerging and dissolving.
